I love summer and holidays abroad where the sun rises before I do and kisses me awake through thin curtains, calling me to play. I love wearing shorts and getting my shoulders out, bare feet on hot sand and cool showers after a day on the beach. I love it all but in truth, I’m a factor 50 kind of girl. I’m all for lazing around in the heat but I’m mostly seen under an umbrella, slathered in sunscreen should the rays penetrate my enclave. There are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, I’m quite fair and even if I did prostrate myself out covered in oil I would be more likely to end up in A&E than looking like a golden goddess. Secondly, I’m religious about my skincare routine and UVA & UVB rays are one of the biggest threats to any anti ageing regime. The skin you have in your twenties, you were born with, the skin you have in your thirties, you gave yourself in your twenties. I understand that Vitamin D is important and that a certain amount of sunshine can do wonders for your health, but for me, with my fair, Irish, freckled skin, factor 50 is a must and golden skin can only be found in a bottle.
I have searched endlessly for the perfect fake tan. I’m not the most proficient at applying tan and as I take a keen interest in the ingredients of skincare, it was important to me to find a tan that was safe and organic.
I had heard lots about Tan Organic and when Caroline kindly sent me a package of products from the range, I was very excited to try them out.
Before I tell you about the incredible results I achieved with Tan Organic I want to tell you briefly about the amazing brand ethos. First of all they are Irish and I am a huge advocate for supporting Irish. They also have a number of wonderful certs to their name. They have received an Ecocert which means the Tan has no GMOs, parabens, phenoxyethanol, ingredients derived from petrochemicals or synthetic chemistry and it also means that the whole manufacturing process is controlled so that all packaging and outer packaging is biodegradable or recyclable.
Is that incredible or what?
The tan is also 100% cruelty free and has received the PETA stamp of approval making it suitable for vegetarians.
To be honest, from my research I thought it was all so good that there had to be a catch. Surely it smells horrible or just doesn’t give you a beautiful healthy glow.
I was wrong. The tan smells like chocolate orange, is easy to apply and left me looking like the golden goddess I’ve always wanted to be. I used the lotion which has a light colour when applying.
As well as the tanning lotion I also received the Tan Organic double sided mitt. The mitt is super thick and long lasting and even has room for your thumb which makes application really easy.
I also got to try out the Face Oil which gives a really subtle glow. I never wear fake tan on my face so this is the perfect substitute. I will be wearing this on holiday when I don’t want a full face of make up. I also received the bronzer from Tan Organic which is genuinely one of the nicest bronzers I’ve ever used. It has two shades and is perfect for contouring and highlighting. I also love the exfoliating mitt from Tan Organic which is an important part of your tanning routine.
Tan Organic is available in pharmacies nationwide.
